Fresh basil is soooo delicious. It is also a low maintenance annual herb which gives a bountiful harvest until the first frost. How nice that deer walk right on past it. I grow it in my vegetable garden, and tucked around in my landscape too. There are several varieties to try- I recommend Cardinal and Thai as well as the tried-and-true Genovese Basil. Fellow Master Gardeners are always coming up with wonderful recipes from their gardens to share at our gatherings. Here are a few which include this month’s highlighted herb- Bon Appetite! Add it to most any recipe. Tasty served fresh with chips or crackers.” Check out the Herb Society of America’s website (HERE), for more information.
